This is actually a request for suggestions from another community There weren't a lot of suggestions, but there were people with the same problem.

My daughter is 3 1/2 months old. She sleeps wonderfully at night for 10 hours on average. I can feed & change her without her noticing. However during the day she'll only take 1 or 2 20 minute nap. She's not fussy about being awake. We have a family friend as a nanny for the summer, but once she's in daycare come September I'm worried about the manditory naps they give the kids.

Is this a problem or a phase? Is there something I should be doing to help her sleep? Can changing her daytime naps effect her night time sleeping?

Both my kidos did that....I wouldnt worry about the daycare if shes not a napper she wont nap....daycare might wear her down a little more with playing and she might take longer naps at daycare sounds like shes getting good sleep at night and if shes a happy baby with or without naps be a happy Mommy! With my kids and daycare they started taking naps.....I dont think is a problem or a phase I think its just the ways she is....my son NEVER slept naps even in the early months....playing with her (sure you are) not much you can do to help her sleep and some kids changing the whole routine can change there sleeping schedual. Especially if you get up earlier to get ready....think daycare will help!

p.s. congrats on the 10 hrs at night! my 6 m. old still wakes too many times! My 2 year old was a great night time sleeper....but I didn't get so lucky this time.

the greatest thing about kids is that sometimes they really do know what they want! Infants do know how much sleep that they need, and it changes from week to week. I would be a bit worried about a daycare making an infant take a nap at certain times.....I have done daycare for 5 years, and have not found infants to take "mandatory naps".

i think this might be a phase. my son did this right about the time he started sleeping through the night. but now he's almost 4 months old and i just wear (sp?) him out playing and he will take naps throughout the day now and he is still sleeping about 10 to 11 hours at night. just play play play and see if that helps her get sleepy! i don't think it is a problem, babies sleep or get fussy when they are tired... and maybe once in daycare after the routine of getting laid down for a nap she will start to sleep during that time? good luck!
