My 3 year old is the same way. Our doctor has him on a Melatonin gummy that is 1.5 mg. It is a natural chemical your brain makes. It helps to aid in sleep. And my son has amazing days now that he is sleeping through the night. Good luck mom.

My daughter is the same way, she has SPD sensory processing disorder, possible adhd and PDD, please look up sensory processig disorder online, not a lot of ppl have heard if this, this could possible explain this issue. I feel for you I really do I hope you get some answers, also mayb look into getting a sleep study done. Keep up posted.

I have a 3 year old. but i have been a professional nanny for 20+ years. Becca and Amanda I feel for you and of course I can only guess since I cannot see your children, but this does not sound like a phase, at any rate this is not healthy for them or you! I would definitely seek out professional help but I wonder if it might be diet related? Maybe something more sever than too much sugar? Perhaps an allergy to dairy? Gluten? Or even food dyes? Perhaps if regular Drs can't figure it out seek out a natural medicine Dr. They often can figure things out that Western medicine can't. Good luck

Your son not sleeping at 3 is not good its not a phase. It might be time for a ne w doctor . Did you try the sleepytime tea or Melanin (spelling might be wrong) tea it is meant to help people like your son fall asleep. Also maybe try a earlier bedtime like seven but keep the other one up a half hour later or so then maybe your 3 year old will fall asleep on his own knowing he doesn't have distractions. also try some calming music. My daughter falls asleep when we are out to Christian radio but you might want classical or something that is calmer for your son so he falls asleep. maybe combine everything together. I can talk to my mom ask her what can be done for a 3 year old who wont sleep I wont use names or anything but maybe getting a nurses advice for you will help.

Last year I was so sad, angry, depressed, didn't want to go out, to see friends, fighting and complaining to my husband all the time. I also used to go to bed really late and sleep only 4 or 5 hours per night. I don't know if calling it insomnia, but even when I was exhausted I didn't wanted to go to bed. If I went to bed early I used to wake up at 3am, check on my kid, read or even wash the dishes and then go back to sleep to wake up feeling so tired.

Now I know I am gluten intolerant. I got tested, the result came back negative. Still when I eat gluten I'm in trouble and have lots of symptoms (anemia, bladder infections, fatigue, headaches, dizziness, brain fog, short temper, bloating, stomach pain, swelling, etc.), so I don't really care what the test say right now. Someone can be gluten intolerant and have no physical symptoms, but behavioral (anxiety, brain fog, depression, irritability, anger, isolation, memory loss, mood swings, night terrors, panic atacks, short temper, suicidal). Just try going gluten free with your kids for a week and see if it helps.

Have you watched him when he does sleep? My daughter had problems sleeping for any long period of time which went on for a couple of years. It wasn't until she and I slept in the same bed that I realized she had developed sleep apnea due to enlarged tonsils..such a simple thing. I hope yours is too.

A friend told me the same thing use to happen to his kid until they found out he was celiac. When they started the gluten free diet she used to wake up a night to check on him because she coudn't believe he was sleeping too many hours. Your son may be intolerant to gluten or something else. Or maybe he is drinking too much soda? Or eating a lot of candies? I hope you can find the reason.

Darcy my boys share a room and my daughter has her room he doesn't take naps at all I have tried three different beds thinking that was problem but i don't think it is he is just so tired by end of night he is cranky but doesn't sleep I have tried to talk to his doctor but he keeps telling me its a phase and its way past a phase

Ok Becca are you in a house where the kids all have their own rooms? That can help get the others to sleep easier.. My daughter who is 3 as a bed time routine and if its interrupted she wont sleep well try having your son go to sleep with music. 3 is a age where most kids start outgrowing naps so don't give him a nap during the day unless you see signs of him tired. Make sure his room is familiar to him that could help also ask his doctor about seeing a sleep specialist to help because this is interrupting your entire family.

My daughter was just like that when she was little. She was a baby and she had lots of trouble sleeping she only slept like 3-4 hours. I tried many things but the doctor told me that she has insomnia and that the only way to get her to sleep more is to not let her take a nap during the day and that helped. And as she got older she slept a little more but right now that she's 13 almost 14, she still has insomnia and only gets 6 or less hours of sleep so don't let your 3 year old have naps in the afternoon.

my son will be 3 at the end of this month. I have tried literally everything to get him to sleep all night. Nothing working and im tryin to apply for a job today and i just dont know what the answer is. He didnt take a nap despite my efforts to get him to, and he fell asleep around 930pm after about an hour he wakes up i get him back to sleep within roughly 30 mins or so and then he wakes up at 1am and didnt go back to sleep til 8am,, and i have a interview in like 3 hrs...Im at such a loss, He constantly terrorizes our poor older cat hits and screams like no tomorrow that u can hear from outside the house with doors n windows closed...we have 6 people in our house my 14yr old daughter my parents myself 3yr old son and my brother. Tryin to keep him quiet at night when hes awake is beyond nerve wracking to say the least one second he will be looking at u happy and playing nicely and then suddenly just start hitting whoever hes playing with with whatever he has at the time ive had toys thrown at me first thing waking up i have tried getting to his level and getting him to use his words time outs ive tried for a year now dont work took away sugar nothing doesnt watch spongebob just umizoomi little bill that sort of thing calm stuff... although my sons dad who hasnt beeen around for the good majority of my sons life is Bi polar manic depressive, and his other son whos 12 has it also and has been very violent to his other live in half brother so maybe that might have a little to do with it but my parents are in their 70s and 80s and cant be getting hurt like he does me hes choked me also along with 3 other people including his 14yr old sister and his dr states this is all normal behaviour hes very destructive for 3 year old.. hes broke toys the moulding around our bedroom door and window ect i stay in tears bc i dont know what to do and dont wanna spank him.......pls help?
