It's so true that every pregnancy is different and every baby is different. But it makes sense, as my dr. told me, that second babies tend to be bigger and give you a quicker labor. It's b/c your body has already done this before. Babies are bigger cuz your body has already been stretched out to it's fullest point. It's like blowing up a balloon that has already been blown up once. And labor goes quicker cuz your body has had practice doing this once before.

But I had hypertension with my first one, not my second. I had horrible morning sickness with my second, not my first. And I was induced with my first and not my second. You never know what'll happen until it happens! Good luck!!

Same with me! I was so well behaved the first time around...ended up with GD. Then this time I spent my first and second trimesters filling up on junk figuring I better do it now before I can't anymore in the third tri. Thanks, good luck to you too :)

The best part Danielle??

On my first pregnancy, I went on a pro-pregnancy diet. I didn't any of the bad or questionable foods, loaded up on all the healthy stuff and then was hit with GD.

This pregnancy, I have been very bad with my diet lol. I've been cheating like crazy - chocolate, soda, chips, etc ... and no GD!
Go figure!!

Good luck and I hope you stay GD free!!

Jenna, that's very encouraging for me. I had gestational diabetes with my son, I am 32 weeks along and just waiting for my doctor to tell me I have it again but you've made it to 35 weeks with your second and no diabetes so maybe I'll luck out too!

It can go any possible way.

My first pregnancy I had absolutely no morning sickness and lost weight until my last 9 weeks. I had gestational diabetes with that one, and he weighed 9lbs 1 oz.

This pregnancy, I have had every possible symptom, mostly all th ebad, and I am currently 35 weeks along and still suffereing from ALL-day sickness. I have gained weight, thought not too much, but I my gestational diabetes hasn't come back on this pregnancy either. I'm still waiting to see how big this baby will be.

I'm finding this one a little harder because I have 14 month old I'm running around after where as in the first pregnancy if I wanted to go lie down for a while that was an option pretty much whenever I wanted. Also, my doctor says babies tend to get bigger after the first pregnancy. I will tell you this though, my best friend has 5 boys and they got smaller. I believe her second boy was her biggest but after that they each were a couple of oz smaller.

My 2nd was much harder than my first. I will say my 2nd pregnancy was easier but labor was awful and traumatic. She was over a lb larger than my first. With my first I labored for 13 hours and pushed for 3. With my second I labored for 36 hours and pushed for 6 hours. Both of my girls had shoulder dystocia but my second was much more significant. I had always heard that the 2nd was such a breeze and my midwives did say that generally it is but my second was just too large for me to safely deliver we just had no idea she was going to be as big as she was.

Generally you always here they're easier & faster especially come delivery time. However-I just had my 2nd baby May tenth & she was 2lbs heavier & 2 inches longer than my firstborn. I went through a really bad/scary shoulder distocia with her at delivery. Thats when their shoulder gets stuck against the pelvic bone. Unfortunately-they don't ever know that it'll happen til you're delivering. But-all in all the pregnancy with her was pretty easy-& the delivery was fast. Good luck with yours! =)

My was so much easier. With my daughter I was so sick the whole pregnancy... I lost 50 lbs before I gained a pound and that was when I was six months along, I was hospitalized with dehydration because of it 3 times in three weeks, with my son i was not sick at all. my doc told me that I was so sick with the first because I had a super strong pregnancy and my body was producing a lot of the pregnancy hormone...although both of my children were healthy babies and I never had any major complications that put me at risk.

My friend just had baby 3 at 11lbs... eek! So I guess no, babies after baby number 1 are not necessarily smaller. But her labour was certainly shorter in the second and third pregnancy than the 1st one. Good luck!

My first baby was 6lb 6oz 19 3/4" long and I was in labor 17 1/2hours. My second baby however was 7lb 14oz and 20" long. I had to be induced with him and was in labor for 7 hours.
Just depends I guess but I've never heard of anybody having a longer or harder delivery than baby 1.
