the sooner the better but there is no point where it is better to keep smoking than to quit. quitting is hard so good luck!

Sooner the better, but it's never too late. It may be too late to have zero negative impact on your child, but as soon as you quit.... it's better for you and it's always better for them to not be raised w/ second hand smoke.

Never too late to stop. The sooner you can quit the better off your baby will be. Unless you would rather have a kid with allergies and possibly asthma, then keep smoking.

Absolutely not. Never too late, never too early.
I've always heard that your body starts improving and healing less than an hour after your last cigarette.
Krista is right. A baby is developing for the entire gestational period. So removing a toxin at any point during that development is going to be a positive.

I have heard of some people being discouraged to stop smoking by their dr's though. I don't know how much is true though.
What I've heard is that for those who smoke excessively, it can actually be dangerous to quit cold turkey. The rapid drop of nicotine can have negative effects on the baby. So those people are encouraged to slow down, gradually. But not up and quit.
You'd have to google it to find out exactly (I'm quite honestly too lazy right now).

NO! Doesnt matter if u smoke the whole pregnancy n quit at the time of birth... we all know the harmful affects of 2nd hand smoke. I quit as soon as I was pregnant for my 1st (unexpected), had picked it back up for a couple of months then quit when we started TRYING for number 2 (miscarried), picked it BACK up then got pregnant with my son. Took me a good 2 mos to quit but hey... I did. I'd like 2 say I will never go back but old habits die hard. Summer is hard... lots of social activities going on but I take it 1 day at a time. Its been about 1 1/2 yrs. :)

Kaylea's exactly right. Sooner is definitely better, but it's better to quit later than not at all. Your baby develops throughout that entire 9 months, so every day that you're NOT reducing their oxygen intake is a good thing.
