You can start giving yogurt at 6 months. It's very good for young children. My doctor loved that my daughter eats yogurt about 3 times a week. We started with the Yo Baby, but it's a little more expensive than other brands so we switched to Yoplait at a year.

hi there.

its ok to give your baby yogurt as long as its only a small portion. remember that even though it may contain fruit it also contains alot of sugars too. and giving a child too much sugar will not only make them have energy they can also get cranky after the sugar rush ends. instead of yogurt try mashed fruits with nothing else added to it you can even freeze the mashed fruits to make a cold desert.

My son started eating yogurt at around 6 months, and he still eats it twice a day. I usually get YoSoy! but sometimes end up with YoBaby!, although he gets kind of mad when its not yosoy ;)

Oh yeah, I've seen the yobaby stuff. I've never gotten it though. The gerber doesn't have to be refrigerated unless opened so it makes "on the go" easier, but I may have 2 try the yo baby sometime, if I think about it! =)

How old is your LO? The only reason I ask is because if the baby is under 1 then they say no milk based products till 1, if your LO is close to one, then I would say yes ok in small quantities.

Yogurt is great, but you do have to be aware of the sugar. In addition to the Gerber yogurt that was mentioned, there is also another brand of yogurt sold in the organic section of the grocery store... I think it is called YoBaby. It's another one specifically made for babies but it also has some varieties that have oats added or other grains (it's been awhile since I have bought it, but I do pass by it in the store). At least this way your getting more nutritional bang for your buck! I don't remember them being too terribly expensive, either, considering that they are an organic... I used to stock up since I had a little yogurt-lover, too.

Gerber makes yogurt. It's in the baby food aisle. A little better for baby than dannon or yoplait.
