I have a fifteen month old little boy. He just started walking and says six words. I know every kid developes at their own speed but I keep seeing other little ones younger than him who just seem older and more advanced. Anyone else have a fifteen month old??

You just need to relax and enjoy you son. He will do what he wants when he wants to do it and not a moment sooner. When he points at things just say what they are a soon ( sooner than you think) he will start saying the words.... then he will never stop talking LOL. my daughter is tongue-tied (meaning the piece under her tongue goes all the way to the tip) and she could hardly get the concept, but now she can talk and the speech therapist says she is amazing. Every child is there own and we have to remember that!!! If your doctor isn't worried and based on the "schedule" they say kids should be doing, he isn't that far behind (just a note: usually they say 8 months, is how far they can vary before worry) then ENJOY your time together!!!!!!!! 15 months is on the later end of normal for walking and 6 words is completely normal. He sounds fine to me.

My daughter has often been behind her peers but with-in normal range for gross motor skills and speech so I know how upsetting it can be. Just try and focus on what he can do.

my daughter walked late, too. but her doctor assured be that it doesn't mean they will always develop slow and not to worry about there current development now just enjoy it, how they develop will come as it does. She said that when they enter school and how they learn then will tell you want kind of kid they will be. Just remember that it isn't a race, they are who they are and do everything at their own speed not by anyone else's standards.

He sounds fine to me. One of my boys didn't walk until 15 months (he's 5 now, and totally normal). He also didn't say his first word until 18 months (other than mama and dada). One of my other boys didn't walk until 17 months, and wasn't saying very much either. He's 2 now, and also normal. More important than him saying a lot of words right now is that he understands what you say.

Possibly, 15 months is only a little late to start walking. But 6 words is about right!!

If your son is developing slowly it's very very minimally. I wouldn't worry! :)
