Also-since no one has mentioned it yet-there is a group called "Moms of Preemies" that has been a lot of help to me, if for nothing more than to give me support and let me know that I'm not the only one who is dealing with some of the emotions and questions that have come with having a preemie.

I think it depends on the baby, and your nurse/ped is probably just trying to impress upon you that if things don't happen "on time" for your baby that you shouldn't be concerned. My son was 7 and a half weeks early, born in April 4 of this year but due May 26, so he's 4 months and 2 weeks now. He's been holding his head up since before he left the NICU, and he started rolling over a few weeks ago, and he laughed a few days ago. He's even started to look at pictures in books, and he's been playing with both hands and bringing toys to his mouth for about a month now. Just remember that milestones are just guidelines-if your child is really late doing something then there may be cause for concern, but don't be too worried if your baby is a early or a little late-they just get there when they get there in most cases.

I don't think all the milestones happen at the corrected age. I was a preemie and started doing things early for my age, both actual age and corrected age. My baby is also a preemie, and started lifting her head and trying to turn herself over. Her corrected age was 3 weeks. I think it depends on the baby and how often you work on the milestones with them.

wow thats really good to hear I was starting to wonder about our son...He was born 8 weeks early and is now 3 months 1 week but corrected age is 6wks..he started smiling at about 3 weeks corrected and was also trying to roll over at that same age and would suceed at rolling over 2 out of 3 times, but our plunket nurse keeps telling me that I should expect all milestones to happen as per the corrected age.

How did you go with sleeping through the night with your twins did they do that at the corrected age of 3 months or there actual age of 3 months?

Thanks
