The humidifier will help make the air easier to breathe, but I would be careful about the vapor rub--the active ingredient in it after all is a cough suppressant. I just add a couple of drops of eucalyptus essential oil in the humidifier and mix the same oil along with olive oil and rub some on her chest and back. Eucalyptus essential oil helps loosen the phlegm. It could be easily purchased at your local health store. Good luck!

They have agave nectar based cough syrup in the baby aisle give her that before putting her down for the night and keep her something to drink cold for it when it wakes her and let her sleep with a pacifier in her mouth so her throat won't dry up

I bought my children a cool mist humidifer with vicks. It works and keeps the air circulating in the room.

What I was told was to put vicks vapor rub (they have a version for babies) on the bottom of your childs feet and put cotton socks on her and then put her to bed....i have heard that it works really well, but i haven't had to try it yet....but i did use a vaporizer last year when my son was sick and it seemed to help a little bit....good luck hope your family is well soon....

Well both of mine are currently sick and the docs recommended a VAPORIZER (cool air) because it allows the lungs to calm and elevating the head of the bed. -- The cough is most likely from heated dry air so the cool moist air should help. -- I have also HEARD that Vicks Vapo Rub isn't the greatest stuff for little ones direct skin. -- If you have something you could put the rub on and leave near your child so they still get the effects from it, I believe this would be better. -- Good Luck. I know how our entire house feels so I wish you the best.

A humidifier would help out tremendously. You could also try vic's vapor rub on the chest. This will help open her air ways and hopefully prevent some of the coughing.

You can try having her sleep elevated a bit by raising one side of the crib or my doctor said a boucer or a seat is good until they aren't coughing. I have also used johnsons vapor bath and a humidifier. hope that helps

Another thing you can try is make sure she is warm, but the air is cool. Cold air makes it easier to breathe.
