So its been a very long time since I had a newborn, my oldest is almost four and now we have a little one who is a month old. Maybe I am paranoid but I am wondering how much she should be eating. She is formula fed and is now at 4 ounces but during the day is eating every 2 and a half to three hours, at night, we are lucky she eats around ten then sleeps til about five in the morning... any one know the normal amount she should be at?

17-32 ounces/day for 0-4 months. My son is 2 months and doing 4-5oz. bottles every 2.5-4 hours depending on sleep and how soon I can BF again. From what everyone says that I hear, typically a 1 month will do a 2 oz. bottle, a 2 month old will do a 4 oz. bottle, a 3 month old a 6 oz. bottle, up until 8 ounces at four months, but every babies needs are different. If you have a larger child, then you will need more. They will puke if they overeat, so that will be a really good indicator for you. Good Luck.

it sounds like she is eating about rite they say about 6-8 feedings a day and well that baby is going to let you know if she aint getting enough if you feel like she needs more try making a 6 ounce bottle she may not take it and thats fine... that only means she was getting enough at 4 ounces hope this helps!

I think it just depends on the baby,My daughter was the same during the day and night,I started out just breastfeeding but it felt like i was constantly feeding her so i decided to give her some formula aswell to give myself a break,When i was giving her formula i went by the weight rather than age as she was 9lbs when she was born so the amount they tell you to give on the box didn't seem enough and she was still hungry. She is now 5 months old and is very health and a great feeder.

I'm not sure if there is a "norm", but I honestly think that it's hard for a newborn to overeat. Usually they tell you when they don't want anymore. It sounds like she is eating a healthy amount. I think you're doing just fine. ;)
