I know kids are apt to pick up bad habits from other kids. Mine come home with some pretty strange ideas but I never knew how bad it could be until today.

Our daughter is 8 1/2 and in grade 3. They had a family pancake breakfast this morning at the school. Instead of taking our entire brood my hubby went with our daughter and our son. I stayed home with our toddler and baby.

During this breakfast with the kids a teacher walked up and said Hi to our daughter and talked to her for a minute. She knows and gets along with almost the entire faculty. After the teacher walked away a boy in her grade walked up and asked our daughter... Do you LIKE her? Nicole (our daughter) didn't say anything just nodded her head. The boy then spouts.. She's a f**king c*nt. He said this in front of not only our daughter but my hubby and our 4 1/2 yr old son. My hubby was shocked. He almost choked on his pancake he said. Then went on to tell the boy you do not use language like that nor do you show such disrespect for adults. The boy actually stuck his tongue out at my hubby and then took off. This boys parents didn't even do anything about this when he tracked them down!

Like honestly what is wrong with some parents?! My kids (at least until now!) never knew words like that. They do know some bad words but nothing like that! Our biggest thing is getting them to not call each other stupid! Makes me wonder what goes on when there aren't adults around and how much my kids are really hearing at school.

Quoting Amie:

Yup those have been my thoughts pretty much all day, well after the initial shock and anger wore off anyway. It's so irritating knowing these things are going on but there's only so much that can be done. They want to be lazy good for nothings as parents I guess.
And as for my kids.. when we sat to talk with them about it we asked them first why this was not acceptable our daughter's words were... Because they're not nice words and they can hurt people's feelings. =) At least we're doing something right she's got the basics down.

Good for you, Mommy! I'm happy to hear you sat down and talked to her about it. So many parents would have just let it slide. Good job! :)

Wow. Now that's classy. I guess some parents really don't care anymore. That is so sad. :/

Oh my gawd I can't believe that! That is very upsetting for us parents who feel it's so important to keep that kind of stuff out of our homes and away from our kids the best that we can. Unfortunately kids learn all kinds of things from school and I guess we just need to talk to them about it and steer them in the right direction.

I just can't believe the parents of that boy and I feel so sad for that little boy as well.
