My son is finishing up his first year of school. He already says he hates school! What can I do to change his mind?

Reading for sure is something he loves to do. Especially after he learned how to do it for him self!

My son said the same things about 1st grade. He was bored, he hated school, things like that. We made it thru 1st grade and at the end of 2nd grade he loves school. Although, he is still bored in class and gets A's in everything. The only problem we have is with his talking, which he is working on self-control! His teacher made the difference between hating school and now loving it! It is really the teacher and how they connect with their students. Lets hope for teachers they love next year! I think pushing reading helps a lot... If you get him to love reading, it will make school a lot better and easier! When my son is bored at school, after he has finished his work, he gets to read. I think the best tool you can give your child is the love of reading.. It will last him a lifetime and help him a lot in school!

He actually tells me he's board...i think he's such a talker that he always gets sushed and he doesn't like that. He's very sociable and is fine with being away from me as i am a working mom now since he was 1. idk i hope it changes in first grade.

If he says he is bored, then maybe you should speak with his teacher. My son tends to finish work fast and then gets bored. I've asked them to give him a little extra work. It seems to help.
