The father of my baby is trying to tell me that because I didn't let him have a say in the name of our child that he won have to pay child support, and if I list him as the father or put him on the birth certificate than his last name will automatically be hyphenated. He hasn't tried to be their for our kid, or even offered to buy him anything and the baby is almost here. But is any of this true?

No, none of it's true. If he is the father, he has to pay child support. It does not matter what your child's last name is. Nothing it "automatically added" to a child's name without parental consent (your's since you have, I assume, custody).
It sounds like he's just trying to scare you.

This isn't true. It does not matter what the baby's last name. The state will force him to pay support. If he claims the child isn't his they will make him take a dna test. If he doesn't take the dna test they will automatically assume he is the father. The only thing they will do to the birth certificate is add him as the father. The will not change or alter your baby's name.
