Lately I haven't been able to get my 16 month old down to bed without a total

I have never had a problem getting my 16 month old to take his naps or go to bed. For the last 4 days, naps and bedtime has become a crying fest. Even when I rock him to sleep, when I put him down in his bed, he jumps right up and screams hysterically. I have to leave him in there to cry his self to sleep, which I hate having to leave him in there so long doing...Does anyone have any suggestions on getting him down without a fight?

my master plan is the rule of three. everything takes three days of consistancy. so for three days put a fan in his room and let him cry for nap and bed. I f you DO NOT give in then by the third day the issue will be resolved. i you wait for 10 minutes then go in, he'll know he just has to keep it up for that long and you'll go in.- don't give him the option.
i have three children and all of them went through this phase and i trusted the rule of three for that , taking cuppies away, potty training losing temper tantrums. it's always work as long as we DO NOT give in

1. Make a warm bottle with oatmeal before naps, his appetite may have grown a little

2. Explore the notion of seperation anxiety beginning, which requires something familiar to sleep with like a blanket or favorite stuffed toy.

3. Push back nap times or take one nap time away, he may be getting out of a certain stage

4. Hate to say it, let him cry at least 10 minutes, while keeping outside noise from the room like tv. maybe put a humidifier or quite baby cd on while he is about to sleep.

I have found #3 and #4 the most helpful in my years of caring for children. 16 months is definately a time when they change.
