Next week my whole family is driving down to south carolina from connecticut. it's a 16 hour drive. we are leaving at 9 pm so hopefully my daughter will sleep until her normal 7 am and we'll be over half way there.

does anyone have any tips on keeping her happy in the car for so long? or tips on what to bring to survive feedings and diaper changing at rest stops?

i too live in ct and went to sc 2 weeks ago, it was an 18 hour ride and my first with my 2 biys, 3 and 4, i left at 530pm and got to charleston at 10am.. my youngest slept through most of it and he was so cramped, i def needed to stop and let him out of the car more often, i was afraid to stop and being 27 and alone with the 2 of them i just wanted my trip to end fast, so i def recommend taking her out and holding her and letting her stretch even if it takes you longer to get there..if your going 95, its easier to stop in virginia then from ny-dc.. and nc isnt all that bad either.. good luck and i hope this helps!!

When my son was 5.5 months, we took him to Indiana for Christmas. Good idea, definitely on driving overnight while she's asleep. My advice, definitely a lot of toys, books, etc. When it's time to eat, stop. Get out and stretch, and give her a change of scenery, let her get out for a bit.

We took my daughter on a cross country road trip from cali to fl to il back to cali. She did pretty good. We would stop every 2 hours when she wasn't sleeping to change her diaper and give her some free time. I tried to feed her after her diaper change but alot of time she didn't want to eat so she ended up being feed in her car seat and she was able to burp herself with the bouncing of the truck. I did take some of her fav toys with us but the most fun she had was when one of us sat with her in the back and played and talked with her, she seemed to like this the most. I also brought tons of binkies so she would run out cause she like to play with them more than the toys, lol. As for diapers I took a whole box of them and wipes. And I bought more when I got there. I didn't change her in the rest stop but in the back seat or our travel trailer (lol those are good to have on hand). I would also brought alot of clothes because I wasn't sure if I was able to get to a washing machine or if the washing machine at families would be busy.

Remember to have fun!

No baby likes to be strapped in a seat but with my son we took a dvd player with a fun loud and colorful character...tons of toys...and lots of snacks b/c he seemed to not want to eat big meals while in the car.

i just got back from one with my 7 month old , not quite as long though , i find the car put him to sleep but when he was awake i sat in the back with him read him stories , feed him , toys with lots of buttons and and lights , we stopped and let him get fresh air and a stretch as well , soothing music and play peek a boo games ! i hope you have a safe journey :)
