Hello everyone,

I'm Katie, and I'm pretty new to this site. I'm 19 ( turning 20 in a few weeks) and I'm really in a bad position here. It was last Tuesday when my doctor told me she could not find a heart beat in my ultrasound, and that I had lost my baby. I'm honestly still in a state of shock, and really just don't know how to handle this. I'm quite alone, not having much of anyone who has been through this to go to. I understand that I am young, but once I found out about my baby, my boyfriend and i were in love from the very second we knew. I feel so empty, depressed, and upset often. I feel that I should be over this by now, but I can't help but cry every day :( if someone experienced could please give me some advice, it would be greatly appreciated. I really don't know where to go from here :(

Amanda and Michelle,

Thank you so much for your advice, I really appreciate it and it has helped so much. It's so hard holding yourself back from trying for another baby, but maybe right now is just not the right time. Thank you guys again, you have really helped me :)♥

You are allowed to grieve for your lost child and everyone handles grief differently. It hasn't even been a week so there's no way you should be "over" it by now at all.

I miscarried my first baby and it was really hard because people would still be asking how the pregnancy was going and I had to tell them all the time. Seeing pregnant women would also set me off. Give yourself as much time as you need, cry when you need to and slowly you will see the other side. I have gone on to have 3 healthy babies but even now (13 years later) I still think of the one I lost.

Maybe see if you can get some grief counseling as well. They are trained to help people find ways to cope with their loss.
