I bought this diaper rash powder cream called Patty Cake to Prevent diaper rash on my 8 month old. i used it once and the very next change, he has it! its ghastly! and it's everywhere the powder was! i'm overwhelmed and devastated! normally he's very playful and curious, now my boy wales at the very touch of the changing table. I soaked his tush in cold water to hopefully ease the pain and let it air out. he's ok for that part. but to put the diaper on him after this shpliel! he's in horrendous agony and i feel so bad. does anyone have suggestions on how to make this rash dissappear? im thinking it might be more of an allergic reaction then a diaper rash caused by negligence/procrastination. he does have sensitive skin.

If your breastfeeding, put some milk on it. It will sooth instantly and start to clear it up within hours.

@ Julianne - i've never heard of that before, but it makes sense. Thank you. I'll try that too.

My daughter used to get really bad diaper rash too. I always used the original A&D ointment. That seems to work really well. then, as a kind of barrier for preventing i used this. Thick white cream called Butt Paste. Also, you can layer the two. Try putting the A&D on first to heal the rash then put some of the butt paste over it to protect him from the pain of a wet or dirty diaper. I have learned the hard way to stay away from most things with zinc oxide in them. For me, at least that always seemed to spread the rash more than help it.
