Making your own baby food

My daughter is five months old and I would like to start introducing some foods along with breastfeeding. I was wondering if anyone makes there own baby food and any tips they might have. Also, is it better to get a food processor or a blender to make the food? Thanks!

i use a food processor...i also have a book called "first meals" by annabel has all kinds of recipes and advice on what to feed first...i too use ice cube trays to freeze the food after i make it...then put the cubes in freezer bags.

I used a hand held mixer when i was making baby food. I liked it because it would puree everything very well and when your baby is ready for lumpier foods you can just mix for a shorter amount of time. I agree that you are going to need ice cube trays the ones with the lids work the best i think. I boiled everything then mixed it so i would mix better and then added some of the water i boiled it in if it was too thick.

I am making my own baby food, in a blender. but if you already have a food processor those work great too. if you have neither i've heard that those hand held mixers are the best because they're fast. you don't have to worry about making everything pureed anyway, because they should be able to eat mashed veggies and fruits and minced meats. i know that there are a lot of great recepies online that you can take advantage of too once you get going.

it's a great cheap way to have healthy food for sure! you know everything that's going into it and you can always just give them what you are already making for supper! those little trays for the freezer are a must have i would say, for when you make a big batch of something they like.

have fun!
