All birth control seems to make me moody but I don't want to rely on condoms and plan on expanding my family someday. Does anyone use any medications (downers) to "calm" them down while on hormonal birth control?

I have tried ortho tricyclin lo, nuvaring, the shot, mirena, and now loestrin24fe. They all give me crazy mood swings!

You can just talk to your doctor about this, and they can perscribe you a birth control with less hormones or a different combination of hormones. You might have to try a few out. I had the same problem, but my husband and I have 2 kids and do not plan on expanding our family, so he got a vasectomy. The last birth control I was on was called Norinyl. Other kinds of birth control with low hormones are Ortho-TriCyclin Lo, and Seasonique. I never tried Seasonique, but I did try Seasonale, and I liked the fact that I only had a menstrual cycle once every 3 months with this birth control, but the hormones were a little too high for me. Anyway, just talk to you doctor about it. Hope you find something that works for you. :)
