meeting other parents

Me and my husband want to meet some new friends who also have young children. I am not sure where to go besides a parent group, but I don't want to feel like I am sitting in class I just want somewhere that I can meet parents like us. Any suggestions?!?

Go to church. Look for something a little more contemporary in the service style and you'll find parents of young children coming out of the woodwork!
You may need to visit several to find the right fit for you and your family. But its worth it. They really become apart of you and will be like extended family.
Our church is larger and we build small groups around your interest and lifestyle. Some are single parents some are couples with kids, couples without. etc. etc. Its a great place to meet people like you who are looking for adult interaction, some fun and a good quality place for their kids to grow up. Try it, you'll be surprised,

i live in a rural town and didnt know anyone when i got here, i started going to the mom and tots group, and even if you dont like the play time itself its a great place to meet other moms and get together outside of the group. its a great starting point anyways because you can meet other people through new friends etc. I would also try somewhere local to you, or if there is a FCSS (family community support services) type of commitee in your town you could check with them what kind of activities are available for your kids age groups or close to it.

what about a park in your neighborhood lots of parents take their children to the park on nice days or maybe church if you belong to one. also not all parent groups are like classes. i belong to a mommy and me group we do fun things with the kids all the time. i have been able to meet and become friends with some of the other mom and we have talked about doing dinner or game nights with our entire families. just look to see what kind of groups are available in your area and try it out if you dont like it you never have to go back. sorry i couldnt be more help but i live in a small town so theres not many options here.
