Milk coming in causing pain?

It has been a month since my baby was born - I have a few questions that have been bugging me for quite a while.

When your milk "comes in" does it cause pain? and I don't mean the first milk, or the engorgement, I mean while your breasts are filling up. One of my friends said that she uses a heating pad/warm cloth when she gets in pain like that, but I'm worried about what's causing it, and what it could mean - especially for later on when I want to wean my child etc. What should I expect? (any advice, or ideas would be very helpful).

and what can you do to prevent pain with latching on - My daughter will only latch on one way so far, but should I venture to try other ways to prevent myself from getting into more pain? and is there any way I can heal up faster while keeping dry in between feedings? (last time I didn't let it dry in between feedings it got very difficult, and didn't heal until I did let it dry.)

sorry for the many questions, I'd appreciate any info at all on any of these topics even if some of it didn't quite match. Thank you,

My son would also only latch on one way and I contacted our local lactation consultant and she said every child is different! As for the pain I am a small chested person so as I will be refilling my breast would hurt at times. But if you are worried its always safe to go to your dr, and be checked!
