I suppose I'm uninformed here, but what exactly is this Mirena thing everyone's talking about?

I use the pill but sometimes forget. I wondering if this is a better option?

But I just dont get it how does it work??? Please help.

I have also had a great experience so far with Mirena. I was a little crampy on the day it was inserted, but since then I haven't had a single issue or a period! I have peace-of-mind knowing that my husband and I are protected, but we still have the option to change our minds!

Mirena is a type of IUD. I had mine in for about a year, but recently had it taken out. It wasnt too painful to have it put in (at least not for me, I had it put in a month after I had my son though) and it took 2 seconds to take it out and I didnt even feel it. (I only had it taken out since we are trying for number two) I didnt get a period while I had it in and I had no bad side effects or anything either. My doctor said that it is equal to a tubal ligation and I fully plan on having one put back in after I have my second kid.

It's a form of birth control that is inserted through the entrance of your cervix. It is T shaped and it gives off hormones directly into your uterus to prevent pregnancy. Pregnancy is still possible but that's the same with any form of birth control. I suggest doing what Marie said and googling Mirena and go to the actual site that has all the info and probably pics of it as well.

Its great! I have had mine for 4 years now. I used to have HORRIBLE cramps, now I have none. NONE! And the heavy periods I used to suffer through are now barely there. If you are in a commited relationship its awesome. No condoms, no pills, no remembering anything. Love it.

Mirena is great! I got it April 2008. The symptoms, such as cramping and getting a period, stopped after around 6-9 months. I forget I have it. I haven't found a bad thing about it yet!

I got it in november...so far so good. I still get a slight period with slight cramps. Way better than the pill or nothing so i can't complain. Some people don't get a period at all...they just suck! lol. anyway i like it!

Mirena is my choice for contriception although I have not had it inserted yet. Mirena is an IUD,non-horomonal Intrauterin device. It gets inserted by your OBGYN and is active for 5 years unless you want it removed. If you google it they have a website that is very informamtive and explains everything...I found it very informative. I have a friend that has it and she loves it! She barely has a period if she has one at all and never has to worry about anything
