I'm looking into getting an IUD wondering what your experiences are with them?

I'm on mirena and other than the no periods part I don't really like it. I have a bunch of pregnancy symptoms ( nausea, sore boobs, tired, back hurts, etc ) but I'm not pregnant. I have also been having weird headaches but it's different for everyone.

After my second baby I got mirena placed. I started to have crazy depression and mood swings, extreme hair loss, and cramps every day. Needless to say I am back to normal and happy to be myself again. I now take lo losetrin Fe. I feel fine now.

I had mirena and was unfortunetly someone that it did not work for. I had just about every side effect you could get on it. Bleed for almost a year straight. It also has the risk of causing pid, edometreosis and other things. I think it is one of those that it works awesome for some people and the rest its horrible. I dont know about any of the others but I will not get another one. A friend of mine that has not had children has the nuva ring and swears by it. I think I will try that one next. Good luck

Well everyone, I spoke too soon... Since I
Got it in I've had terrible spotting... But it isn't normal spotting you'd get with a period? On top of all of it, I've realized my sex drive has been low and sex was extremely painful and I've had a constant headache. Has anyone experienced these side effects?!?

I had the Mirena put in six weeks after my daughter was born, three months later i realized it was no longer in the right place. I had to have surgery to get it removed... they said it went through because my uterus was so tender after have a baby... who knows...:)

Hey ladies thanks for your input- I went with the paraguard. No pregnancy symptoms and no pain at insertion(I took Tylenol before just to be safe,) And only mild spotting the last day.

I had mirena for two years and didn't like it. I had spotting every single day! No period but spotting everyday was more annoying then just having a period once a month! I also had this weird feeling like I could tell there was something in there and also I think the hormones through me off emotionally. It was like PMS symptoms all the time. My doctor suggested after that to try paragaurd. She said woman who have that report less symptoms even though it is considered the older IUD. I am still thinking about getting the paragaurd. They are a great concept if they come without symptoms. Long lasting birth control that's not permanent. Good luck.

To each their own (symptoms) on this one! I Have paragaurd. They can make your periods lighter or heavier (like me) I do still feel discomfort with it when I am about to start my period. I have had mine now for 3 years and don't have to have it removed until 2019 for a new one!, who can beat 10 YEARS of contraception?? lol it has no hormones so there is no feeling like your on the pill. It hasn't moved or fallen out.
