molars for 1 yr old

[deleted account] ( 7 moms have responded )

So my daughter is turning one tomorrow and i was tickling her last night and noticed she was getting a molar on her right side. She kinda got all her teeth pretty early ( teething at 4 months first tooth at 6mons and 8 teeth by 10mons)

I thought molars didnt come in till they are 2 ...hence the name 2 yr molars????

And the great part is she isnt to bothered by it either , lucky me

Confused....

my daughter got her 1 yrs at 10 months old. she is 19 months old now and is already getting her 2 yrs. the molars coming in didnt bother anya either. i still gave her a popsicle in the bathtub to help soothe her before she went to bed. she carried a a half frozen rag around for almost a month.

My son is 20 months and has a total of 16 teeth in his mouth. He has 8 on top and 8 on bottom. His eye teeth were the last to come in and they came in a few months ago.But they do get their molars around that age and the next teeth to come after the molars are the eye teeth. And FYI with the eye teeth they hurt more for the children because they have a point on them.We used lots of Orajel and cold teething rings to help him!Good luck!

Quoting Natasha:

There are two sets of molars.
There are one year old molars and two year old molars. But they can come at any age, really. My son got his first set of molars just over 1 year of age. He is almost two now, and has all his teeth but his 2 year old molars.

yes, thats what i thought too. both my kids got the sharper, pointier molars around this age and then the regular molars around age 2. sorry if my description sounds weird, but i dont know how else to explain the way teeth look. LOL Im sure you know what ones im talking about anyways. You are lucky that she doesnt seem bothered by them because those are the ones that bothered my kids the most.
