I'm getting ready to move out of my fathers home next month. The issue is that my two year old son and I have shared a room these past two years and I'm worried that he won't stay in his new room. He wakes up at night still and tries to get into my bed, I have to put him back into his bed at least once every night. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can make it easier on him?

Hi Brittany, I'm a grandmother now but when my son was born he slept in my room until he was 3 years old. The way I got him out of there was gradually moving him into his own space. When you get your apartment fix his room up so he'll know that its his room and not your room. He will grow out of it. Do the boy thing so he'll know this is his space but remember it will change gradually. Try to get twin beds if you can and have a friend over to spend the night in his room.Hope that helps

might want to start putting him down in his room for daytime naps! slowely transition the room change! if he fights that, try napping with him in his room till hes calmed or asleep! after a while he will get used to it! my daughter slept woth us for 2 months, in our bed..then i transitioned her to sleeping at nights in her playpin, next to our bed...i started putting herin her crib for naps in the daytime and just recently started leaving her in her crib at night too! worst sleep i have gotten in a while was that first night! iwas so worried she would uncover herself or something! lol second night was much easier!

"the nanny" shows advice is to lay them downa nd do your night time routine, then leave..not taking your time or being distracted by everything they say or do! when they come out...lay them straight back in their bed and leave again... if they cry, let them! after a few times, as long as you are sticking with it, they will fall asleep in their bed!
