I thought about taking him on one of the gravel roads near our house and letting him start practicing......SLOWLY! I was about 12 or 13 when my dad took me out but Christopher is pretty level headed for his age. Is this too young? How old were you?

That's cute. I know my friend's mom would let us sit on her knees and "drive" when we were like 7. The four of us (me, my brother, my friend, and her brother) would each take turns on a separate dirt road out in the groves (I'm from central florida). I like the go cart idea from the first poster though lol.

I lived on a farm growing up, so my dad taught us kids (me and my brother) to drive when i was 5 and when my bro was 7. It was in a manual, and we on,y ever had it in first gear, dad was always there, and no accidents ever happened as we were in a controlled environment. So i think that as long you have a lot of control over where you are and conditions ect ect, he should be fine. especially if he is level headed.

My dad started me when I was 10.... I think as long as its safe and no people around he would be fine. If you have a long driveway thats always a good place to start. I started on gravel roads too just make sure he is aware of what loose gravel can do!!
