You are supposed to feed milk first, then solids. You can't have baby getting full on rice cereal, there is no nutritional value to it. That's how malnourishment can happen.

How do you know she has no problems digesting it? And your pediatrician is going against recent studies on the topic, so I would do your research if I were you.

Anyway, the way your worded your question makes it sound like you are feeding her solids first and THEN milk. You shouldn't be trying to fill her belly with rice cereal. Her formula or breast milks should be absolutely your first priority. Before the age of 12 months, any solid food is only for practice, not for nutritional value.

She has no problem digesting it, her pediatrician recommended we start her on solids at 3 months.

Why are you feeding her rice cereal? She is too young to digest anything by either breast milk or formula, and you definitely shouldn't not be replacing ANY feeds with rice cereal or other solids. The World Health Organisation and the AAP do not recommend anything but breast milk or formula until a baby is 6 months for various reasons, including the fact that their tummies, in general, are not yet mature enough to digest solids until then.
