My 3 year old son refuses to poop on the toilet, how can I make him go!?

Hi Ladies!
I really need some help! I have twin boys who are 3 years old as of June. One twin has been completely potty trained for about 8 months now...however....we are having huge problems!! Up until about 2 weeks ago he was peeing and pooping on the toilet, and now he just refuses to go! He is literally holding in his poop and will not go whatsoever! I talked to his pediatrician who advised me to give him a laxative every day to take away his ability to hold it in -- that's not even working!! I using to put a diaper on him and making him sit on the toilet when I see him holding but its not working! Even with a diaper on he will hold his poop in! I even gave him an enema (on the doctor's advice) and he tried to hold that in too when s go its just coming out in tiny little bits that's just enough to dirty his undies bs holding in a full bowel movement!
I have spent hours in the bathroom with him encouraging him, bribing him, and even just plain out telling him that he is going to get very sick if he doesn't go!!!
I am at my complete wits end and about to lose my mind with this! I am beyond frustrated which is not helping when I'm trying tay calm and be encouraging! I understand that I can't force him but the fact that he was potty trained for a good 8 months and just now refuses to go is just making me crazy!
I need help!!!! Someone please tell me what to do now :(

There is an article on this site that you may want to read, I can't remember what its called, but several moms have had success with something called a "poop jar". Weird sounding I know, but it is a clear jar with little trinkets in it, bouncy balls, toy cars, etc. When he poops he gets to choose one toy out of the poop jar. It has seemed to motivate and work well for other children...

I've seen the "poop jar," too, and am thinking of trying it. My almost 4 year old son will pee but not poop in the potty. He has a speech-language delay and a cognitive learning delay. He has absolutely no motivation for pooping in the potty. :-/
