my 5 month old girl is slow at gaining weight

she was 3.9kg born and is 5.7kg at 5 mths,i am breastfeeding her and ahve tried to give her bottles of formula and discovered she is allergic to dairy and iv since ttried soy and thats fine but she doesnt like to suckle a bottle,what to do??

thank u for your comments,i had started her on solids bout a mth ago shes still getting used to it but it hasnt made much difference to her weight,she has been sick in the last few days and been on antibiotics and prednisone and i can tell shes lost weight,shes happy enough now though.i mite try different teats for bottle just to top her up.

wow!! as long as the doctors are saying shes healthy, and in no need for medical attention i would say dont worry. you will eventually learn tricks to getting her to suck. as long as shes happy n healthy i would not worry.

You might need to try a different nipple for you bottles. Some babies are picky. I agree with the other comment as well. I had to start my baby on solids before 5 months cause the bottles weren't holding her.

my little boy was 2.73 at birth, at 5months he was 6.00kg very difficult getting milk into him for 5 months, started on solids and hes now gaining weight and hes now 7.52kg. Starting on solids was the best thing for my little boy despite my health visitor advising me to wait at least another month. I didnt feel this was right as he was always hungry. Hope this outs you at ease a bit.
