More and more it seems that my 5 yr old has started back talking my husband and me. Not only is she doing this, but she has started to flat out lie to us as well. I would like to know if there is anything that i can do to help steer her away from these bad habits. I have tried mulitple differant things to try to correct this and I have run out of ideas. please help me I would like to 'correct' these bad habit before it gets bad.

I have an almost 4 year old and he is doing the exact same thing! Ive also tryed everything but i think it is the kids he plays with, they have taught him. Im hoping its just a stage they go through, like swearing we would pull him up on it all the time now he has realised its bad and if he slips up he knows and says "oops" or "sorry" really quickly. I think you just have to persist and tell them every time you catch them out.

Good Luck though

Well my daughter is 5 and she tried back talking alot of time. Some of the times when I dont feel like talking I would just smack her and send her to her room. Then she would come out and tell me that she is sorry. Other times I would give her a warning and talk to her. Then a few days without me asking she would come and tell me why she shouldnt back talk to her parents e.g back talking to parents isnt nice and its rude. Then I would tell her that she is very smart and I am proud of her. I just think that when they are at that age the more you play around with them is the more they want to try little stunts. I dont really play with my daughter so she dont get too many chances to find out what she can get away with. Plus she play all day at school and daycare lol. When she reaches home its dinner, homework and then bedtime.
