that's a little more difficult. If they only see the baby like once a week I wouldn't worry too much, but if it's an everyday thing then I would say something like "not to be rude or anything but I'm trying to break her from constantly wanting to be held. I don't mind if you are wanting to interact with her but play with toys or something when she is tired she needs to lay down in the nap area."

Let her cry it out. You can hold hand and talk to her to help sooth her, stand in same room and talk with her to help sooth her eventually she will tire herself out and fall asleep. Be sure to gradually get it to where she can fall asleep on her own. You have to be able to let her know that just because she is pitching a fit and wants to be held that its not going to happen. I know it is hard I would constantly hold my daughter when she was a newborn. If you start rocking/swinging her to sleep now it will be hard to break her of it later. I was bad about laying with mine until she fell asleep and my daughter (age 6 now) still wants me to lay with her. I had a friend that rocked her son to sleep and at age 4 she was still having to do it because it was the only way to get him to sleep. Good luck.
