i am a mother of 4 and every single one of my kids experienced the constipation at such an early age. My grandmother told me to put 3 drops of Karo Syrup into the bottle of milk. She is 7 wks old so im guessing she is drinking about 4 oz??? yeahh 3 small drops of karo should do it. ((: DONT GIVE HER 1/2 AN OUNCE OF IT ! You will have a big mess.....good luck let me know how she does.

I used 1 spoon of sugar to 6oz of boiled water, (waited to cooled of course) and it works a treat. also when u see her struggling to go, lie her on her back and push her legs up so she's got something to push against, hope this helps

white kayro syrup works the best i wouldn't do juice has way to much acid would probably give her a belly ache! you can put a little bit of the syrup in her formula, this always worked for my little brother he had constipation issues all the time!

my son had the same problem. he was a little older. i also tried the karo syrup. worked like a charm. another thing i tried was brown sugar. only put a little bit (half teaspoon in bottle) and before you know it you will actually be happy with a full diaper! good luck!

I know about this all too well. My daughter had to have part of her intestines removed when she was born. She was on a medicated formula for a year that did the same thing. The dr always told me to give her a little bit of prune juice very watered down. The prune juice should be all natural and for every half ounce of juice water down with 2 ounces of water. She did very well with it and it worked until her formula was changed.

both of my twins were on soy formula too and constipation was a battle until they were around 6 months old. i know every baby is different so it might not work for yours but my pediatrician said try apple juice (also pear or grape) diluted with 50% water. most babies don't like prunes or prune juice.. also i noticed if i gave them stage 1 jarred baby fruit 1-2 times a day(a jar a day) it got much much better i started this around 2 months of age.. i know some people say no jar solids or cereal type thing till 6 months but if i didn't my babies woulda starved and woulda been so backed up and in my daughters case kept getting impacted bowels.. i also occasionally had to do enemas (pedia-lax ages 2-11years but i only used 1/4 of the thing and was only in extreme cases) on my baby girl cause she would go days without pooping and would just scream in pain.. but dont do that without talking to the doctor first.. also try the vasoline on the tip of a thermometer and gently rub it around the anus for 30-60 seconds like you are taking the temperature.. i did that and within 10 minutes it was enough stimulation to get them to go.. you can try an ounce or two of warm NOT hot water too. those were the different things i did to help my lil ones ..

go luck and i hope you can find something that helps you lil one.. just keep trying different things until you find something that works.. if it gets really bad just take you baby up to the local er/urgent care and they can help you get it cleared out..

my daughter is 6 weeks and she is on Soy milk as well she has been having issues pooing ever since birth the doctors told me give her 2 ounces prunes juice to 1 ounce water and karo syrup once a day but i have done that as wel as put vassoline in her butt with a q-tip NOTHING works!!!
The prune juice works for the moment but then goes right back to being hard and she cries all day and is always grunting and pushing and crying like her stomach hurts. I wanted to change her formula but the doctor told me not to and i was like I dont want her to go thru all this for ever she said as soon as she is on solid foods she will be better so we are gna make her suffer for 3-4 more months lol and she spits up the prune juice huhh im frustrated dont know what to do someone told me to put her on a formula called Protect?

HI Lizette, buy same prune juice already made and give her a bottle or 2 a day, it wouldn't do any harm and its good. Baby oil on the stomach after bath is good 2. If she start eating buy those tin fruit and put it in your blender, mix into her porridges in the morning. They love it! Enjoy !!!!

karo syrup really messed up my 8 week old, and I only gave him a couple of tsps. He ended up getting an awful belly ache which turned into diahrea, which gave him a terrible diaper rash.
I would recommend mixing a little more water in with the formula, or giving her some water on its own.

My son got severly constipated when I switched him from breast milk to formula. My doctor told me to give him a little brown sugar and dark kayro syrup. I couldn't do the suppository so I just used petrolium jelly on a Q-tip to help it come out.

My son was VERY constipated at about 2 months old and my sis recommended to put a little bit of baby food prunes in his morning bottle and it has worked wonders! He is now 8 months old and EVERY morning gets his prunes and is NEVER constipated! He is also on soy. When we were at the doctor's I told her about the prunes and she said If it is working then Great! It never messed with his tummy or anything- I didn't want to do the Kayro surup because of all the SUGAR and it is recommended not to give your baby water so early- so i would try the prunes if I were you :)

My daughter is on soy formula as well due to her being premature and i was told that soy formula on new babies is very constipating my dr recommended that i give her half a teaspoon of lactalose every morning and it helped her out lots about 20 mins after the med given problem solved but it does take 2 to 3 weeks for it to help ease the passage way for them to poop as soy is very thick and hard to pass you can also try a little baby soap aroung the anus to lube up the area to help both these tricks worked for me i hope they help you

oh sorry I just remembered I was also told to try warm bath water with baking soda in it. let the baby sit in it and that may help. I don't know how it works but it does!

I am guessing your daughter is allergic to milk? My 1st and 3rd was allergic to milk and soy. I did have to use a supository, but I spoke to my doc first. You can get them at the drug store over the counter and that worked. You may also want to make sure that she doesn't have an allergy to soy. She may need a non dairy and non soy formula....2 of my children needed that. Good luck I know it's hard to see them in pain

My daughter is on soy formula also and has the constipation problem too. This sounds nasty but when she was younger I had to massage her but with wipes and that would help alot. She is 10 months now and does not have problems because I can give her juice now. I would be scared at 7 weeks giving the baby juice.

My twins were constipated at about 3 weeks..the doctor said we could try glycerin suppositories, they are made by the little babies brand and are liqud.  At that young you only need to insert a little bit though, they worked within 30 minutes.  They got constipated later and she said a little bit of prune juice is ok as well as white grape juice, we only gave an ounce or two but it did the trick!  This is all after we tried massaging their tummies.
