my son is still kinda like that and he is 11 months now....i started putting him in a swing ever since he was little and he loves it...thats how he always gets to sleep now.

this was/is so my son (who is now 3 months old). He rarely sleeps more then 30 minutes throughout the day, but sleeps great at night. We tried everything when he was younger, including putting a small box fan at the end of his bassinet (on the outside of course!), they say the "white noise" is soothing to a baby. have you tried a swing? I know sometimes I can get my little man to take a good 2-3 nap in his swing sometimes, but not always!

My daughter would not sleep for more than 5 minutes at a time once she was about 1 1/2 months...I was going crazy because I wasn't sleeping either. She would sleep if I was holding her up on my shoulder but would wake up when I laid her down, so my mom made the suggestion to lay her on her belly because that was how she slept on me. So during the day when I could easily keep an eye on her (around 6 at night) I laid her down on her tummy and she slept through the night. And when I slept through the night I mean I had to wake her up the next morning at 10:00 am. She has slept through the night like that since. And she usually takes two 2hour naps during the day (she is 7 months now). My doctor also suggested to not go to her while she is napping or sleeping until you sense she needs you...babies often wake up to practice talking and things, so waiting until the cry can help them learn to comfort themselves and possibly go back to sleep.

my daughter is a year old now. She never naps more than 15 mins unless i hold her. What i do is go for a walk before her nap, the fresh air seemed to help her sleep longer and she sleeps very well in the stroller. It does get better when they can start to crawl and walk.

Have you tried using a swing? my daughter didn't transfer well at first. but I would snuggle her up in the swing and after a few minutes she would sleep. Some babies unfortunately don't sleep very long at one time. Things will get more routine in about a month. hang in there.

My daughter was super particular. She has CP, and I've been told kids that have that can be VERY cranky when they're young (which she was). She had to fall asleep being rocked on my chest, then you veerrrryy slowly had to take a blanket and lay it on your lap, very slowly lay her down on it and wrap her up, pick her up ohhh so slowly and carry her to her room (of course any squeak in the floorboard would wake her up and you'd have to start all over), and she had to be laid down vertically, not horizontally, in the crib (I think she liked feeling more confined). You had to leave your hand on her chest for a good 5 min. after you laid her down, and (you guessed it) slowly take it away and crawl out of the room! I don't know if that will work for you (or if you want to go through all the trouble)or if she needs another routine customized just for her. Maybe you just need to get one of those slings for awhile so you can at least get stuff done around the house while she's sleeping. Just remember, it doesn't last forever!! =o)
