my daughter eats chalk dirt etc! is it possible she has the disorder pica???

sometimes its fun to eat dirt. push the boundaries a bit. she might be trying to get a reaction out of you to see how far she can go before you tell her off. kids are constantly puting things in their mouths. just have to be careful its non toxic.

i have 4 and the oldest 3 eat everything all the time dirt chalk paint worms (grose) but it is definitly nothing to worry about xx

Yes, it is possible. Your child is almost three. Some know not to put this type of stuff in their mouths some don't . Since we can't be certain which applies here it doesn't hurt to bring it up with a doctor.

My doctor says that when anyone...young or old, eats dirt that it's an iron deficiency. Ask your child's pediatrician about an iron supplement. Good luck! I hope this helps :)

thanks everyone for your comments on this the worse thing is we just moved house and its very dusty etc until we decorate so she is going to have a field day!! lol better hurry up and get some carpets laidx

It is totally normal. My son and daughter did/do the same thing. It is just the sensation of something new in their mouth. Different textures, tastes, smells....It is just new and exciting. My doctor told me that unless she starts eating chemical based items, not to worry "God made dirt, dirt don't hurt"
