My son is 12 months and he is a huge headbanger. Gives me bloody noses on a daily basis. Also bruises himself ALL the time. Has been doing it since he was about 4-5 months old. Not sure what to do about it myself. The Dr told me to just let him do what he is doing and eventually he will learn it hurts!!!

okay not to sound like a dumbass but when I was little I did the same thing... he'll be fine... it is just a tantrum and the more you ignore it and don't pay him any mind the more likely he is to quit... it's an attention thing..

My little sister did this as a toddler and my mom was beside herself. I know this is going to sound wierd but she was seen by a physical therapist who also does cranio sacral therapy. They found out that her cranio sacral rhythm( rhythm of her spinal fluid) would get blocked and when that happens to babies and toddlers they bang their heads on the ground. It could just be your son's way of getting your attention when he throws a temper tantrum or it could be something else going on. You can try looking up cranio sacral therapy and see if there is anyone in your area that does it. You'll be glad to know my sister is now eighteen and very smart, beautiful and perfectly normal young woman.
