My little one won't let me in her mouth anymore to brush her gums.

I don't want to not do it because I want her teeth to be healthy when they come in but how can I get her to open her mouth?

My daughter did that too or she would bite me if I stuck my finger in her mouth. Like the above poster said make a game out of it. To be honest I really didn't brush my daughter's gums I just waited until she had teeth and then brushed what teeth she had and her gums. Once my daughter stopped letting me in her mouth I just handed the toothbrush to her, but it sounds like your daughter is obviously to young to do that yet. Try making goofy baby sounds and see if she will mimic you opening your mouth. Just keep trying and she'll get used to it.

Well my son loves when i brush his gums, he opens his mouth right up....but what i would maybe try is make it like a game.....make funny noises to get her to open her mouth and then just get done what you can each time....make it fun so that way she will start to like it..you might also want to buy her a toothbrush, i bought one for my son yesterday and its for ages 1-3 so its small but i haven't tried it yet i was going to wait till he got his first tooth, then let her chew on the toothbrush and maybe she will let you brush with that....sorry i wasn't much help......good luck

I had this with my first and told the Doctor at one of her check ups he said if you have to sit on them and pry their mouths open then do it. I lie them down and pin their arms betweem my knees then put one finger to the back of the gums where there are no teeth and brush away I will sing and make goofy faces but sometimes they freak so I make it fast.

My youngest is around your age and i just make silly sounds to distract him then praise him...and my oldest daughter(2 1/2) never had a problem with it until she got older. so I make it fun and ask her to make different noises when she opened her mouth.. "AH"(to open) "EE" (to get the front teeth)...and then i gave her the toothbrust afterwards to let her have a turn...

Thank you guys all so much! She is almost 8 months now so maybe I will invest in a regular toothbrush, but first I will try the games. thank you again!
