My daughter Serina has started teething and this was confirmed by our GP. Has anyone experienced a baby getting teeth this soon and if you did how did you keep breast feeding? did you continue?

yea i did I just wanted to see if anyone had a 4 week old . because this started a little while ago but i didn't believe it. I had never heard of it happening this early. I think I need to be shown how to use the nipple shield. I do it wrong or my nipple is retarded or sumin.

My son Spencer is 5 weeks old and I believe he's teething as well. I'm nervous about the continuing to breastfeed with a tooth at my breast but I'm going to try it for a couple of days and see if just taking him down when he bites and putting him back after a while will help. I was actually talking to my father-in-law about this today. He says not to underestimate the intelligence of your baby, no matter how young he is. He'll learn (in your case a she) in time and if he doesn't then it's really not the end of the world to go to a bottle. My plan? When he bites me, take him off the breast and tell him not to bite me. Wait a minute or so then put him back. Repeat as necessary. Hopefully he'll catch on within a couple of feedings. And if not, then he'll be a bottle baby in the end. Good luck!

I just posted a thread about this for my son! The doctor confirmed he was teething at 10 weeks. I pump all my breastmilk now that I've gone back to work, so I don't have a problem with him biting me. But our son chews on the bottles and pacifiers when he starts to hurt. If we give him a little Tylenol or use baby orajel, then he doesn't seem to bite anymore, so maybe if it gets really bad you could try those.

My daughter started teething at 18 weeks - so not quite as early, but still earlier than I thought when I planned to breastfeed for a year. There were a few incidents when she did bite me, though it never hurt too bad. When she did that I would stop breastfeeding for a minute, then have her latch on again. I breastfed her until she was 11 and a half months - which is when she weaned herself. She had 6 teeth then.

A friend of mine used a nipple shield once her bubba got teeth. And bonjella worked wonders
