Sound like something is bothering him. One thing I learned try your best to not show your frustration in front of him, he will sense it and could get upset over it. It is ok to take breathers I surely did!
Do you think it could be formula/breastmilk hurting his stomach? I have heard that while breastfeeding you can get an infection or the milk can be sour. Formula cause alot of grumpiness in babies I have known including myself having to change formulas around to find the best fit for your baby. they can cause gas bloating. And also constipation can be a cause. When mine got constipated I would gently rub his lower belly and he would go almst immediatly.
Sometimes as well there could be like a hair wrapped around a toe or something that can cause discomfort. Id check his body all over to make sure there arnt any signs of irritation.
Just remember too that up to age one the main thing that baby is building is his security with everything including you. If he want you to hold him, its ok to do so. Its not going to spoil him in anyway, hes just needing that blanket of security, your a comfort to him. Its a good time to let others hold him to and get used to having other people around him expecially when you are tired.
Hope you find out whats bothering the poor thing! Just hand in there, it will get better!
