My Sons Eating Issues

My son is going to turn three the end of August. There are only about 7 things that he will actually eat. He will only eat Cereal, Pancakes, French Toast, Pizza, Yougurt, and Fruit. Of coarse he eats snakes but he will not eat any meat or anything else! Ive tried to leave him in his high chair until he eats and putting food in a food processor to make it like baby food. I dont know what to do anymore. Hes been like this for about over a year now. Im starting to wonder if he just doesnt like the taste of meat and if hes gonna just be a vegetarian. It really worries me. Please help me!

Hi Lauren, went through the exact same thing with my son, like Kerry said leaving finger food is an option to try, but the main one that worked for my son was making sure he felt that there was no pressure and he trusted me to give him things he liked to eat instead of forcing him to eat things he didn't like. Try just giving him things that he is comfortable eating for a while and try not to put pressure on him to eat anything he doesnt want to. Once he is happy with that (and it does take time) then try to introduce new foods little by little. My son still does not eat everything I would like him to but it has certainly improved with time. Hope this helps!

I know how you feel my son is 2year 3 months and he only eats weetabix (cereal), Spagetti Bolognaise yoghurts and Jam sandwichs literally that is it and its so hard because I try and offer him other foods and he will just refuse sometimes he screams and throws the plate and sometimes he just sits there and doesnt even attempt to eat it. The thing is if i dont offer him the foods he likes he will just literaly not eat which worries me so I end up giving in. I must admit i do sometimes get frustrated and have tried to trick him and put a spoonful in when he laughs but that defo doesn't work he doesn't appreciate that and i dont really like doing the force feeding so I tried hiding bits of veg fruit in foods he does like to no avail Lol! I leave finger food out on a plate so he has access to them and I hope he may just be intrigued one day and taste it (this has not happened Lol). I'm guessing you have probably tried these. The thing is I think as long as they are eating and are getting exercise its the best we can do to just keep offering SURELY one day they will try something new (Lol). I think your son is getting quite a range of food so i wouldn't be too worried but perhaps speak to ur health visitor/paed and discuss your worries about him not liking meat. I hope this helped a little its nice to know ur not alone :0)

Sounds like you have a picky eater on your hands, just continue to try to give him a variety of things and see how he does, if you're really concerned talk to your Ped
