When my youngest daughter Ruby 18months wakes up in a morning she bangs her head really hard off her bedroom door for me to hear that she is awake. The problem is she does it so hard that she ends up with bruises and lumps. I am worried that she is really gonna hurt har self and i dont think it is really normal. What can i do to stop her? and Is it normal?

Iv already tried waking her up earlyer before she wakes up her self but she is crabby all day and wants to go back to bed and i have also moved her back into my bedroom but she wont sleep very well.

Any suggestions are really wanted,

A very worried and confused mum Claire xx

I would suggest if she hasnt out grown or cant climb out of a crib to put her back in one. Second, get a baby monitor to hear her when she first wakes up. She has to bang pretty long to cause bruises and bumps so it may be taking you longer then you think to hear her and wake up. And I still strongly suggest the baby gate, even if you only open her door a little just before you go to bed and she is fast asleep it may help.

She is for ever banging her head in a strop i have to pick her up and hold her at arms lengh to stop her. When we very first moved into our new house she was just walking and she would run to the back door which is all glass and bang her head off if I tought it was excitement in a new house had a back garden but then i put her in a bed instead ov a cot and a few weeks later i wake up to the sound ov her baning her head i have to run to her bedroom so that she carnt do it for too long and relly hurt herself. Thankyou anyway Claire XX

Hey. That sounds really frustrating. I would call your doctor's office and ask the nurse what you should do. Does she do this any other time or just when she wakes up?

Sorry I couldn't help more.

Is she not tall enough to open her door? And do you have a baby monitor in there to hear when she wakes up? You could also try putting a baby gate up in front of her door before you go to bed at night and opening her door.
