my 7 month old daughter does not nap well during the day. there's days when she'll take a 2 hour nap but most days she usually takes a half hour in am and again in pm. i've tried letting her cry it out, rocking her to sleep, keeping her awake until she's falling asleep in my arms...just about everything. but after half an hour she wakes up crying and won't go back to sleep. she's slept through the night since she was 5 weeks old and she gets 10 -11 hours a night. i know some babies just aren't nappers but any ideas to maybe help her sleep at least an hour at a time would be great. thanks

My son stopped napping when he was a year old. He just didn't want to take naps anymore, and we could not make him. My almost 3-year old daughter still takes an afternoon nap. Every kid is different. Maybe your daughter just isn't much of a napper. Does she seem tired and out of sorts after a short nap? If not, maybe that half hour was all she needed to re-energize, especially if she gets 10 or more hours of sleep at night.

That's a tough one, a lot of parents not only want the downtime but need it. She is sleeping quite a nice amount of time at night so that may be why she isn't as tired during the day, the thing that seems to make my little one sleep longer during the day, and by that i mean 45min-1.5hrs is either laying down with her, that way if she wakes up she can just cuddle in and go back to sleep or taking a walk outside. If you need the time to do things around the house I don't know how you feel about it but I let my 9mth old daughter nap on the living room floor sometimes, that way shes not going to fall off anything (such as the couch) and she seems to sleep longer. Again, it all depends on the child, some just don't like to nap.
