My toddler is 1 year old.

Her father always punishes her when she starts touching different items in our living room or even in my mom's home.

Do you think she understands or it is too early...?

my son is 14 months and we have pictures on our tables, my mom has little things on her tables as well. my son is not allowed to touch them and he needs to be taught. we tell him no and if i constantly have to keep telling him i tap his hand. i dont put them up high so he cant touch them because thats not teaching him anything. he needs to learn that mommy and nanny's things arent for him to play with. this is my opinion though

Its not to early to tell her no we dont touch. Maybe to early for actual punishment. What type are you talking about? Time Out? Tap on the hand?

It is probably too early for her to understand why she shouldn't be touching whatever it is but if it is super dangerous (like wires or plugs, etc) than it is necessary to let her know it is a 'no no'. Depending on the way he disciplines it sounds like he's doing the right thing.
