I have heard nipple stimulation helps induce labour by releasing oxytocin. If it works how long do u need to do it for and also do u need to make the milk come out to make this work?

thanks to everyone for ur help. My midwive told me a little bit of milk will come out if u actually pump the breast and that's what causes the oxytocin which helps to bring on labour.

Yeah it did help, thanks.. So you just rub ur nipples like when you're in the shower or watching tv? I've tried the sex the last couple of weeks every day or couple of days and it's not working :-( and i've got 4 days left till I'm due. Looks like i may have to wait to be induced :-(

Nurses told me that it would help and I tried it...I'm not sure how long it takes because I was really close to my due date anyways, but you wont get any milk until after you deliver.

It sounds like your little one is stubborn. Just like mine. She was 6 days late by my doctors due date. But she was right on time for mine. I tried all of the things you did. I didnt do the castor oil though. I didnt want the runs when I was in labor. But I lost my mucus plug the day before. I would say around noonish. I started contractions at 1 in the morning. But I didn't give birth to her til 10:28 that night. So just give it time and try to relax. Your going to be in a marathon soon and you will need your rest. Just enjoy having some time to yourself for a moment. Everything changes once they are in the world. But all for the better.

Well is sounds like maybe its working.. Stay positive, and a heads up, if your water breaks, it should feel like a "pop" inside of you, atleast mine did.. Good luck, and God bless!

Also yeah when i walk i can feel the pressure of her pushing down. thanks for the encouragement, i just feel like ive tried everything cept castor oil which im not willing to try and she isn't wanting to join me in the world :-(

Yep, just when I watched tv or in the shower, whatever your comfortable with..Well when is the last time you got checked by your doctor?.. Maybe the sex is working, you just don't know it..It mainly just softens the cervix which is probably more of a pain then dialating.. Maybe try to walk.. I know when I walked, I felt a lot of pressure down below, to the point its almost uncomfortable..But either way keep your head up, and don't rush it.. If your baby isn't ready, then he/she isn't ready.. As long as the baby is healthy you should be fine.. But I know is exactly how you feel..You wanna have your baby already.. !!

I too have also heard this.. To help induce my labour (I gave birth a week early) I used nipple stimulation, by myself like in the shower, and during sex (my boyfriend sucking).. walked A LOT.. almost everyday, and had, sorry ladies, tons(well a lot) of sex because the semen softens the cervix. Three days before I gave birth I was already dialating, and my cervix was almost 100% effaced! And about the milk, it normally doesn't come in until 3-5 days after you give birth, so it doesn't help with stimulation, although the stimulation might help your milk come in quicker.. Hope this helped! :)
