Thak you for all of your ideas we have gone to our local health and welfare office about this and they say that they can not help us because we have private insurance and i have considered doing the jar collection...Thanks again and if any of you think of anything else please let me know!

Like Jenni said, I would look for the dental clinic in your area, every county in the United States is supposed to have one. I would seek them out, because they honestly sit down with you and see what you can afford. They did for us, I wish you luck and may God help you.
If you have too, hold an event or ask a local restaurant to set up a jar. I worked at one were we would replace our penny jar with a donation jar whenever anyone need anything.

Do you have a "Health Deptartment" anywhere close? Ours has a free clinic, with a dentist. I've never used ours, so I wouldn't know exactly how they do things.. if it's free for dental work or if it's gauged by income. We've only been there for WIC. Check around for clinics. We have one clinic that does all of it's billing based upon your financial situation. The extra cost for them is made up for in donations... the Ben & Jerry's I worked at in high school would hold an event every year on Free Cone Day for them.

additionally dont feel ashamed, a lot of people tend to be because there used to being able to take care of things themselves.. your a tax payer... these programs are here for you when your in need... you have probably put money into these programs for years! I am not a fan of people abusing the system, but using it only when needed. I had to get a little help with medical insurance when my daughter was born with heart problems, and then as soon as we stabilized I dropped the medi-cal insurance

I would agree with jacquie.. there are programs that are government funded.. that doesnt mean that you have to be completely enrolled in the program when you dont need it. But they have programs where children can get it paid for if the parents are having a recent hardship. These programs are ment for things that are honest problems like this situation. They dont usually announce these programs because they figure if you have an honest hardship you will try every avenue. You might be able to get this oral issue free. They take a look at your income, household size, and utility bills(especially if there past due), and the medical bill to see if you qualify. It is a shame that oral problems are a little different than medical problems. Yes if I broke my arm and didnt have insurance they would take care of me, send me a bill and if I didnt pay in 120 days it would go to collections. But when you have an oral issue the dentist either makes you pay upfront or takes the bill and makes you pay in 2-4 increments with the first payment due at the time of surgery, which can be quite a hardship if your family is living paycheck to paycheck. I hope everything goes well!!!!!!

Carrie: just to ease your mind if say I got hit by a car right now I would get treated, hospitals here have to treat you whether you have insurance or not. If my kid fell and broke her arm, again they would have to treat her. Even if I take her to the Emergency room for vomiting they have to check her out. Later they just send me a bill.

Talk to the people who handle medicaid in your area. Some times they do supplemental programs where they will cover all or most of what your insurance doesn't cover/

ask chuch if you are with one, do sponsered runs, this is why i'm so glad i live in england and have the NHS. i think it's unbelieveable, what happens if you get ran over by a car, do they not help you unless you have insurance, and what about if your child had a heart defect, what would happen if the insurance didn't cover that?
