My daughter is 4 and is a picky eater. We have recently been getting her to try more fruits and vegetables, but it took a long time of being firm about putting food in front of her and she didn't get anything else to eat unless she ate what was on her plate. We would only put very small amounts of thing she wouldn't eat, so it wasn't overwhelming at first. She has developed a taste for some things she wouldn't even try before. It started turning around when she got old enough to negotiate a little. LOTS of praise when she did try something new, even if she immediately spit it out. Now she chooses to eat things like carrot sticks and apple sauce and grapes and salad. It's not about finishing everything on her plate, and she's not "punished" if she's not, but she doesn't get any more of the things she likes if she didn't eat the other stuff, and certainly no dessert! It took a long time....you have to be more stubborn than they are....they wont starve themselves to death! Good Luck!
