any suggestions on how I can keep my 3 month old up later than 6pm? he sleeps at least 6 hours straight every night, but with that 6 hours starting around 6pm it doesn't help me out much when I have to get up with him after only 3 or so hours of sleep. is it ok to keep him up later and more towards my bedtime? I mean, if he could stay up until more like 8pm that would be great!

thanks ladies. He naps in the late afternoon around 430pm--but late afternoon is always his crankiest time of the day unfortunately--so this is the most difficult nap even when I know he is tired. Once he goes to bed at this time, he's sort of out for the night. We get him up a couple more times, but it's hard to keep him awake even though I'd prefer for his bedtime to be more like 8pm. it's frustrating...

Sure it's okay, my little one was going to bed at about 2130 at that age now 7.5 months old going at about 1930, try and let him have a nap in the late afternoon then some gentle play so not to over stimulate. It probably won't be easy for a couple of days mind you if he is really tired best to put him to bed overtired babies don't sleep so well :) hope this helps
