Hello everybody :] My son, Lacoda, will be 4 months old on the 28th and I'm starting to get concerned about him... He only has 1 poopy diaper a day if that, sometimes he goes a day or two without even having one! This has been going on since he was about 2 months old. I brought it up to his doctor at his 2 month wellness check and she seemed concerned and said it definitely wasn't normal but didn't suggest anything I should do about it. My mother inlaw said I shouldn't worry about it and he just has his own schedule. I was just wondering if any of you have experienced anything like this with your little ones.

My daughter is just 4 months today, she's on formula when & nurses from me its at least twice a day if I can, & her # 2's are still watery? Is that cus the formula? When are they suppose to have solid poops? & is it to late to produce on one side more often ? Cus she can drink from both sides but only one seems to fill up more & she just takes to that one side. ???

since my son was born he only had one poop y diaper a day..I think it is totally normal just depends on the child. Now if they are hard and causing bleeding or none at all coming out..my dr. said to give a oz or two of sugar water or white grape juice

It is perfectly normal for babies to only have a messy diaper every other day, and that being said, it is perfectly normal for babies to have a messy diaper every time they eat also! If your baby is having wet diapers (generally at least 8 a day is the norm) and when he is have messy diapers they aren't hard then everything is ok. You want to make sure he is not dehydrated so if he is having few wet diapers you need to speak with your dr immediately. If his poop is hard then you need to speak with you dr right away too.

My son was the same way. For months, he would go a couple of days without pooing. Every child has their own patterns, as long has his "normal" stays normal you shouldn't worry. My son is 9 mo and now he usually goes every day, but sometimes he still goes only every other day or he might go 3 times a day- that has a lot to do with baby food though. But when he was four mo. +/- he would go sometimes 3-4 days and his dad and I would start to worry, but everything was fine. Check out this link, there is a section called cures for constipation and it will help you and so will the starting solids section for in the future b/c then you'll have to balance his foods so he won't get diarrhea or constipation. Good Luck!

It is very crazy when they go from pooping several times a day to just once a day but unless he is feeling discomfort I would not worry too much about it. If he is comfortable, happy, and eating well he should be fine. There are some glycerine suppositories that can be used if he goes too long but I would only do that if the poop was hard and causing him pain. Trust your baby, he will let you know if it is bothering him. Mine always does loud and clear.
