I suffered postpartum after I had my daughter. ( She is now 3) It was a difficult time but mothers need to realize that is is normal and it it NOT your fault. Do not be afraid to ask for help because you DO need it. At first, I was not aware of my depression, the moments surrounding it are very fuzzy except how my parents told me how I acted, and as I think back on them, I sometimes become embarrassed and ashamed. During that time, I did not want to be around my daughter, I took care of my motherly duties but at the same time, i didn't want to hold or play with her often, I had to force myself and many times when I was with her, I would zone out and stare at the walls for hours while she cried in the background, it is not my proudest moment by all means but to this day I am grateful that I sought help and haven't missed a day of being with my baby girl since!
