i had a simple approach when my son was two i never put any training pants or nappy on him, he had a lot of accidents for about two weeks and after that he has gone to the toilet by himself they dont like having an accident and they get embarraseed so they teach themselves.

hi aimee. i have three children. i successfully potty trained them all the same way. i block in my kitchen with gates, filled cuppies as soon as they were empty and let my kids run around pantless. for two days i listen to an audiobook or music just watching them. every time they'd tinkle a little i would say " uh-oh no!" put my hands on my cheeks and put them on the potty and say "yay thats right" after the first day i just had to say oh on, then after the second they were pretty much there. i let them run pantless for a week or two and slowed the cuppies down to what i'd normally drink. no more accidents.
i completely agree that you need to be sure they are ready and some are ready before others but most are ready by three and a half.
good luck!

Hi Aimee.. biggest advise i can give is not to worry, my daughter was exactly the same and was 3 and half when she started training, just out of the blue one day she did it. my mam always told me never push them, they'll do it when their good and ready...and she was right. Exact same with my second daughter, she's 3 and half and just decided one day she wanted to do it and that was it, she's potty trained now 3 months. Dont put pressure on him, and he'll it when he's good and ready. When i think of all my unessecary worrying i did. Hope this helps.. Gillian
