Hi ladies,

I have a gorgeous, cheeky and independent 2 and a half year old that is having trouble getting his head around the potty! We have had sucess when we physically take him to the potty. He simply refuses to go on his own! We have tried being stern, sticker rewards, special training pants and giving him a book to read. Once he's on there we usually suceed in the end result. I just need help getting him to WANT to go himself. Any suggestions???

I have been told to put fruit loops in the toilet so it is something fun for boys to aim at

my youngest wasn't trained until almost 4. I took him he went, but wouldn't on his own. The doctor said it was ok. Unfortunately i learned you can't force them, they will do it when they are ready. I tried everything, no diaper, letting him be uncomfortable with a full diaper, stickers, food coloring in the toilet, you name it I tried it. Finally he said he really wanted a specific toy, priced around $50. I told him he could have it when he didn't need diapers and that everytime he peed on his own in the toilet I would give him $1 and everytime he pooped I would give him $5 by the end of day 3 he was fully trained and didn't even care about the money or the toy he was so pround of what he did all he wanted to do was go out and oick out some new underwear. Point he'll go when he's ready, It is very frustrating, but boys train later than girls. Just don't get angry at him and stay patient. Praise him, bake a cake, jump around like you won the lottery when he goes on his own. He'll enjoy the show and be will to do it again. Good Luck and stay positive.
