I just had my daughter in February and just found out I'm pregnant again! I'm a little worried because they say it takes a full year to heal from a delivery...did anyone else get pregnant so soon after delivery? Any problems?

I had my daughter 6/1/2 months ago n terrified I might be pregnant again so soon. Havnt taken a test yet as I heard periods can be irregular at this time (have had just one period post partum) any longer and i'll be forced to. Feel much calmer now though.

people get pregnant like that all the time and risks are usually for you, like not enough calcium and other vitamins and minerals, better get great prenatal vitamins and eat healthy

Just a note for those saying "They will be best friends" and such things...My sister and I were just over a year apart and were NOT, by any stretch of the imagination, best friends. My youngest brother, who was 5 years younger than I, was my little buddy. Until he went off to college and got too cool for me. ;) My sister and I were not awful to each other, but our closeness in age didn't mean we were interested in the same things or had personalities that meshed. I was a loud, extroverted tom boy. She was a quiet, introspective homebody. We get along fine, but don't think that your kids are going to be best buds just because they are close in age. I don't say this to lecture, but I don't want anyone to be disappointed that their kids aren't as close as they thought! My kids are 3 years apart from first to third, and the oldest two hardly ever get along. The younger two are incredibly tight. Let them be who they are, bond with whomever they choose, and you will all be happier.

I'm 25 weeks pregnant with my 6th - this baby is due on baby #5's first birthday. This is by far my closest two, but everything has gone so well. Baby #4 was a c-section and #5 a successful VBAC and I'm hoping for another VBAC with this one. I have to believe my body was ready for this or I wouldn't have been able to get pregnant. And they will be best friends!

I had fell pregnant with my third baby just 5 months after giving birth to my second and I was absolutely fine and healthy, carried full term and now have a very happy healthy little boy who will be 2 on saturday, so good luck. It is hard work with two so close in age but then again they grow up together and they are very loving towards each other but just remember there will be fall outs but mostly they enjoy playing together.

There is 9 months and 18 days apart from my middle child and youngest child. He came early, spent 2 months in the NICU, had NEC, VSD which required surgeries. He was diagnosed with Speech Apraxia. After all that struggle to get him healthy, he is doing great! Jacob and Anna are both currently 7 years old, and they are both going to 2nd grade and are the best of friends! They sneak into each other's rooms at night to sleep with each other. He crawled into her bed last night and they are still sleeping at almost 9 am! Anna understands everything he is saying (which is difficult and I have many problems understanding him myself). I love having them so close in age!

I personally haven't experienced this but my sister just gave birth to her 3rd in January, had surgery and just found out she is 3 months pregnant again. The doctors are not concerned at all about it. I think as long as you take good care of yourself you will be fine.

I'm pregnant with my fourth in four years. I agree with other posters that it can be hard to take care of an infant (and toddlers) while pregnant, but I've personally found that the hardest part is the emotional toll. Make sure you're open with your partner and friends about any stress you're feeling, and that you ask for help when you need it. Pay attention to your body, and rest when you need it. If finances allow, you might consider hiring a "mother's helper" to stay with you for a few hours a day to watch the baby while you bathe, nap, or catch up on things. As long as you had no complications the first time, you are likely to have a smooth pregnancy the second time around. And if you are breastfeeding, you can continue to do so throughout the pregnancy and after the new baby is born, but if you start feeling painful cramping while bf (more than the typical cramps some women feel throughout nursing) then you need to check with your doctor. I was always able to continue nursing through my 7th month of pregnancy, when the stimulation caused contractions that concerned my ob/gyn. Good luck!

You may run a higher risk of anemia but the worst case with that is having to get supplements. Good luck with everything! I hope it goes smoothly!

If it were that harmful to the human body to get pregnant right after delivery there would be a built in stop gap measure to prevent pregancy (breastfeeding is the closest thing to natural birth control as it stops ovulation). I am not suggesting that everyone go out and get preggers again right away, but if you do happen to find you are expecting again think of it as a blessing and do what you can to ensure your health that of your newborn and fetus. Most people have heard stories of their grandparents and greatgrand parents being one of 12 kids or something like that and those mothers had almost no prenatal care, had babies at home (which I did with my second and LOVED), zero medical intervention or even pre-natal viatmins. With advances in nutrition and medicine you and baby should be just fine. Congratulations!!

I got pregnant 1 month after delivering my son. Only problems I've had are the baby sitting lower (which I don't think would have made a difference, waiting?). I've managed to not gain any weight this time and I'm just glad to have another kid and be done with it :) don't worry. i knew a girl who had a kid, once every year, for 4 years in a row! She's healthy as an ox (i guess? lol) and all 4 of her kids are healthy.

I had my sons 10 months apart and 12 months apart and everything was fine. I had no complications with any of them. I think it is hard on the body and you need to find time to rest but you can still have a healthy pregnancy, don't worry yourself to much over it. :) Best of luck with your little bun in the oven and your precious baby you just had!

I am 51 weeks younger than my sister. My mom had complications with her and was told that they were both blessed to be alive, she didn't need to have any more kids but if she were to get pregnant she would probably lose the baby. I am 29 and have NO problems. The most problem I have ever had is asthma as a child. Just be cautious like you probably were with your first born and obey dr's orders.

You're perfectly fine don't worry. Yes it take one year for your body to FULLY recover from giving birth, but as long as it has been 3 months your are in the clear health wise. There is no more risk for you or your baby than there was for your previous pregnancy. My husband and I actually plan on getting pregnant again asap after our 1st is born this September. I already talked to my OBGyn about it and she said as long as I'm in fair health or better at that point then its perfectly ok.

I think when they are saying it takes a year they are referring mentaly lol.. my son was 3 months old when I got pregnant with my daughter. they are 13 months apart. son sept 13th and daughter oct 7th. I had both of them all natural. no epidural. I didn't have any problems. with both my pregnancys though they both wanted to come sooner than they were supposed to. but they didn't. with the help of the hospital. ne ways. congrats! most of the time it happens that you get pregnant so soon because that's when you are most fertile. you will have sooo much fun! with them being so close in age. my son was only 13 months old and wasn't jealous. now I can say though that he's getting there lol. he's 21 months and she's 8 months. good luck!

Just take extra care of yourself and both babies. I had my kids 2 years apart. We planned to wait the 12 months before trying. There have been plenty of women who have had kid that close and closer even!!! Make sure any of your concerns are voiced to your doctor. Good luck to you and both babies! And for the comment about twin pregnancy, this scenario is quite a bit different. That's comparing apples and oranges as they say.
